Dr. Charles Harrington was Director, Blood Testing Development Chiron Corporation. Prior to this joining Chiron, Dr. Harrington was Vice-President and Chief Technology Officer, Abacus Diagnostics Inc. Austin, TX. During his 10 year tenure at Abbott Laboratories Diagnostic Div., Dr. Harrington held the several positions including Group Leader- Chemical Neurodiagnostics, Section Head, Abused Drugs and Toxicology Business Unit, Program Manager, Abused Drugs and Toxicology AxSYM Project, Manager, Bone Disease/Diseases of Aging Venture R&D group, Program Manager, Transmissable Spongiforn Encephalopathy Diagnostics Venture Group. Dr. Harrington obtained his B.S Chemistry from Texas Tech University , Lubbock , Texas , M.S Biophysics Univ of Houston and PhD Biochemistry Univ. of Houston. He was Assistant Professor, Dept of Psychiatry, Univ of Texas Health Science Center, Houston TX and later Lecturer, Dept of Neurology, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston TX . Dr. Harrington was a member of WHO Working Group on International Reference Preparations for Testing Diagnostic Kits used in the Detection of HBsAg and anti-HCV Antibodies.
Dr. Ellington a BS degree in Biochemistry from Michigan State University , and a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Harvard University . He was a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Genetics at Harvard Medical School , working at Massachusetts General Hospital . He was an assistant professor of Chemistry at Indiana University . Dr. Ellington is presently a full professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Texas at Austin . Dr. Ellington's expertise is in evolutionary engineering, adapting molecules and organisms for particular applications. His interactions with the military and intelligence communities stem from his days as an Office of Naval Research Young Investigator, his participation in the Defense Science Studies Group of the Institute for Defense Analysis, and from the execution of a number of contracts with various DoD funding agencies. He is currently developing methods for tagging, sensing, following, and inactivating biological threat agents.
Dr. Pedro C. Yachelini is Founder Director of Institute of Biomedicine , Universidad Católica de Santiago del Estero (UCSE), Argentina . He concurrently holds the position of Director of Postgraduate Programs in Applied Molecular Biology Postgraduate School, UCSE, prior to which Dr. Yachelini was Staff Researcher at UCSE. Dr. Yachelini obtained his Diploma in Biochemistry from the Faculty of Biochemistry and Biological Sciences, Universidad Nacional del Litoral, Argentina , subsequently was awarded a Master of Science Degree from the Center for Advanced Studies of the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research, Venezuela . He obtained his Ph.D. from the Faculty of Biology, Tübingen University , Max-Planck-Institut für Biologie , Germany . Dr. Yachelini completed his Post Doctoral training at the Cellular Immunology Unit Max-Planck-Institut für Immunbiologie, Freiburg , Germany . Dr. Yachelini has been the recipient of several research fellowships, grants and awards of the World University Service, German Max-Planck Society, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), German Society for Cooperation (GTZ), German Research Association (DFG), and Swiss Cooperation Agency. He was a Member of the Scientific Advisory Board Committee of the Medical Council.
Dr. Waghela is presently Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Veterinary Pathobiology, Texas A&M University (TAMU), College Station , TX . He obtained a B.V.Sc degree in Veterniary Medicine and a M.S in Veterinary Pathology, from University of Nairobi , Kenya and subsequently a Ph.D. Degree from Washington State University ( Pullman ), in Veterinary Science. Dr. Waghela held several positions during his career, including Post-doctoral Research Associate, Dept. of Veterinary Pathobiology, TAMU; Deputy Director, Veterinary Research Center, Kenya Agricultural Research Institute, Kabete, Kenya and Senior Veterinary Research Officer, Veterinary Research Laboratory and Assistant Director of Veterinary Services, Dept. of Veterinary Services. Kabete , Kenya . Dr. Waghela is a Member, World Health Organization (WHO) Expert Advisory Panel on Brucellosis, Member, USAID's Rinderpest Biosafety Subcommittee to review biosafety considerations of improved animal vaccines through biotechnology: the Rinderpest-Vaccinia virus recombinant vaccine. He has published several scientific papers and has been has been awarded many research grants. |
